Frequently Asked Questions

WHY WAX?

Waxing is one of the best ways to temporarily remove unwanted hair. It is more effective than shaving because it removes hair from the roots, not just from the skin’s surface. Over time, hair in waxed areas regrows lighter and more sparse, or not at all. Even fine hair shadows the face, distorting and aging your features.

HOW LONG DOES MY HAIR NEED TO BE?

Hair needs to be 1/4 inch long. If it is too short, the hair will be difficult to remove. More pain is associated with longer growth. If you typically shave please allow 3/4 weeks between shaving and waxing.

HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST?

Appointments are usually scheduled every 3-4 weeks. If this is your first waxing experience you can reasonably expect your results to last between 3 and 6 weeks with minimal growth in the days and weeks following your appointment, depending on how quickly your particular hair grows. Hair regrowth patterns are cyclical and you will notice an improvement in regard to the longevity of your results as you become regular with your waxing services.

DOES BODY WAXING CAUSE HAIR TO RE-GROW THICKER?

No. This is a complete myth. Waxing, in fact, is know to actually stop hair growth all together in some cases. It is important to keep in mind though that waxing should be used as a temporary hair removal method as the slowing or stopping of hair growth takes many years of consistent waxing.

WHAT IS SUGARING?

The product is applied with a stick in the direction of the hair growth. After the hair is fully immersed within the sugar it is then quickly pulled off in the opposite direction of the hair growth, removing the body hair directly from its follicles. There are many benefits to removing unwanted hair with sugar wax rather than traditional waxing. The method allows hairs to be gently lifted rather than painfully removed. Some claim that the process is an entirely pain-free removal of hair.

WHAT IS HARD WAX?

Hard wax is applied to the skin and does not require a strip to be pulled off.  Once the wax dries and hardens on its own, it can be removed directly since it is not sticky like soft wax.  Hard wax adheres to the hair only, not the skin.  The waxing session is also less painful since the wax is not tugging at the skin when it is being removed.  The wax will solely pull out the hair resulting in a much more comfortable experience for the client.

IS WAXING SAFE FOR THOSE WITH SENSITIVE SKIN?

If done properly, waxing can be a great benefit to people with sensitive skin. It is much more gentle on the skin than many other methods of hair removal, IE. shaving and at home depilatories. We recommend booking sugar or hard wax services as they are more gentle on the skin.

WHAT TYPE OF WAX IS USED?

We use different types of wax for different services. Most waxing services require the use of hard wax and sugar wax. Hard wax hardens on the skin and is then removed when sugar wax molds to the hair and doesn't attach to the skin. Hard wax and sugar wax are perfect for use on people who have sensitive skin as the wax encapsulates each individual hair and does not attach to skin. For some services provided regular soft wax, is best to use. All of the waxes used are of the highest quality and the results are superior because of this.
